    Best video ever. I hate when I type in something very simple and the video is 20 minutes long. They start by telling you the history of the straight leg dead lift. How it became famous. All the diets to do for a straight leg dead lift. Just show me what I want to see like this video does.

    @Callyourmother2787 Рік тому

    Nooooo, this is a ROMANIAN DEADLIFT. Not a Straight Leg Deadlift. RDL starts at the top while SLDL starts from the floor. You need to retitle this to Barbell RDL

    I'm no rowing pro but do encourage customers in my gym to row as I think it's the best excercise. I've just looked at probably 10 rowing videos on youtube and this is the one that i will recommend for technique.. Thanks to Lubo Kisiov for the link!

    Thank you for all the good comments ! Please, don't forget that the rower who was doing the demonstration at that time was a beginner rower and by doing this video I wanted to show you that you can use the rowing machine as a beginner without any problems. I was asked by many different rowing clubs, TV programs and GYMs around the World if they could use this video for helping the athletes and the general public understand how to row on the rowing machine because of the very simple demonstration and explanation of the rowing technique on the rowing machine. Enjoy it and keep on rowing, because rowing is one of the greatest exercises in the World !

  • @phillipsargeant1936

    A nice simple exercise. Correct me if I'm wrong, my understanding is the deep adominals are very important for the trunk, which I like to think of as the base for leg movements, possibly hips ?and most importantly for the protection of the back... As a cyclist, I'm just waking up to the fact of the big imbalance between my legs and the upper body, the latter being very weak, with poor flexibility.... Thanks for the vid.

    Im 6'0, 175lbs, exercise regularly, in great shape, abs showing, and do cardio often. Been fit and active my whole life. However I simply can not break 9 mins on 2k meter row. Im giving everything I got, especially during final 250 meters. Im totally confused about why this is.

      are you getting the calories to be able to do such a strenuous erg? maybe work on leg strength, deadlifts and squats

    • @MikePf100
      @MikePf100 7 років тому

      Try erging unstrapped. It's most likely that you're not sequencing right. You have the weight and especially the height to be breaking 9 minutes. You should be breaking 8 minutes easily actually. I'm 2 inches shorter and 10 lbs more but I'm pushing 7 at 52 yrs old.

      Find a rowing coach and get some lessons or join a rowing club for some months. It's most likely a question of technique.

    Well explained coach... just like I learned at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in '78. Our Erg was a Beauty with a switchable side ore handle, heavy flywheel and actual break with resistance weights. She was a true heart killing machine.

    As a personal goal I am currently working up to 26 miles. I am up to 11 miles at a gentle pace of 7.5 min miles. I am currently up to 11 miles. The problem I have is that at the 10 mile mark the bottom of my butt and top of my hamstrings go numb. Does anyone have any tips how to get through this?.

    • @MrKisiov
      @MrKisiov 8 років тому

      +germans1 . Yes, get a seat pad and everything should be fine. You can make one yourself. Get a foam that is more than 3 cm thick and cut it with the shape of the seat. Before going on the rowing machine put that seat pad on to the seat of the rowing machine, seat down on it and start rowing. Let me know if you get the problem again. Cheers.

    This was great. I appreciate you breaking it down into several parts and showing each one separately, and then as a whole movement. I have always been intimidated by the rowing machine for fear that I would do it wrong and injure myself. I am going to do it now!

    Keep your toes pointed and your chin tucked. Also make sure that bar is being raised to below your sternum so you're activating more back than biceps. Nice try though

    Teply to volvo245.....the heavier you are,tge higher you should have the damper setting....just use your bodyweight on the catch, work up a good sweat and the weight will soon drop off, i was 20 stone at christmas, now i.m 17stone. I.v got 1stone left to loose. Last week i done a half marathon in 1hr 14mins 40 secs....i feel great.....just make sure you row atleast 1hour a day, if you have the time.....

  • @volvo245
    @volvo245 9 років тому

    yeah its great to get that explosive drive when you are optimum weight...what if you are a fat f*ck? im 350lb 3 months in after a long break running on damper setting 10 low 1:40 500m and 43 minute 10k.... lower damper feels impossible, my body has too much inertia to keep the drive velocity high enough for effective pull at lower damper.....i think ill just do it wrong until i look more like the guy in the video.

    Very helpful video. My situation is, my gym doesnt have a Concept 2 or a rower with a drag setting. I have just started out and when you mention to lower SPM, does that happen by increasing the drag setting? Since I am not able to row less than 28-29 even for warm ups. I have read on a different Training Forum to try 22-24 for as long as possible but I cant do it that slow unless I had a drag and set it higher. I have been doing "relative training" i.e. I do 10k in 54 with a 3 min rest between the 5k units. So I plan on building longer distance but my SPM is 28-29. Is there a way to figure out how to go slower SPM with no drag on the gyms machine? Thank You.
